Along with the quality of how well a technique is applied (which we
haven't really considered yet) is related notion. Is the technique
applied overtly?
When appled overtly, the technique is visible on the piece. Pots
with throwing rings, glazes with fingerprints from where they were
held, woodfire flash marks, are the sorts of things that show the
technique used. Some are inherant in the technique. These
techniques are readily seen. Other techniques have to be applied
in a certain way so that they are visible.
Because a person inexperienced in a certain technique may only be able
to apply it in an overt way, that would need to be considered.
