The Cult of Tea- The Sky Kingdom sect of Malaysia is famous for building a giant teapot building.  "The building reflects a similar vessel in the sky." AI They are currently in a bit of hot water having had their teachings labeled deviant by the Terengganu State Fatwa Council. I guess this is just more evidence as to how strong a metaphor the teapot is.  To a potter making a teapot is a serious matter of craft (lots of parts, can't drip, design considerations.)  It also carries a lot of meaning and so is a favorite object in wich to express one's art.  I think it can also be a crutch for ideas that couldn't hold water by themselves.
