Is there some reason lightning stories always come one right after another?
Japan Atomic Power Co resumed operation Saturday of the No. 1 reactor at its nuclear power plant in Tsuruga, Fukui Prefecture, a day after lightning caused it to automatically shut down.
The operator said it has confirmed the safety of all equipment and facilities at the plant. The 357-megawatt boiling-water reactor automatically shut down around 3:30 p.m. Friday after lightning struck a power line near Mihama in the same prefecture.
