Spam News
§ - I Fought the Scammer... and I Won
He's asked his name and is told that he might like to come down for a chat in the local station. He says his wallet and ID are in the booth, so he walks in, rips a USB memory stick from the side of his laptop, tries to swallow it and makes a run for it. Detective number 1 grabs and tries to cuff him, detective 2 starts to do the same.
§ - Incredible Bulk
It's oddly intimate, watching the spammers and the anti-spammers mill around each other like this. It feels like a temporary ceasefire in a vicious war that to most of us seems to be a stalemate.
§ - Postini Antispam Patent Could Cause Headaches
If enforced, the patent, which covers an e-mail "pre-processing service" could grant Postini legal ownership of a wide range of antispam and e-mail security methods. However, some industry experts doubt that the patent, filed in September 2000, will stand up to legal scrutiny.
§ - Spam Gets Its Claws in the U.N.
Stopping spam would be an excellent test case for judging the benefits of global cooperation and U.N. involvement as it concerns the Internet.
§ - Spam Responsible for Most Whois Complaints
Spammers trying to hide their identities are believed to be the main cause of people complaining about inaccurate Whois data... Over 20% of the approximately 24,000 confirmed complaints about inaccurate records that were received between September 2002 and February 2004 mentioned "spam" in the text of the complaint.
§ - Spam Works on Some People – and We All Suffer
What it all comes down to is that uninformed people are making decisions that affect everyone on the Internet.
