FOX NEWS SUCKS!!!!!
Okay, so you feel that the death of Former President Ronald Reagan is important enough to cut into the Saturday baseball game with the announcement. Okay, I personally may feel that this could have waited for a break in the game—breaking news instead of an ad or two maybe? what a concept!—but I can live with a brief announcement RIGHT NOW. But for gosh sakes, YOU CAN SAVE THE WHOLE DAMN BIO FOR LATER! (And of course now that we're finally back to the game, the guy who's plugging the prostate cancer fundraiser has spent a huge chunk of his time going on and on about Reagan rather than what he's there for.)
Do I sound like a horrible, disrespectful person because I figure that something that's happening RIGHT NOW—baseball or otherwise—which was scheduled for broadcast months ago, by the way—deserves to be covered RIGHT NOW? Reagan's death was indeed breaking news and deserved a minute's interruption. His entire life history, however, has been covered often before and no doubt will be covered many, many times again in the next few days.
So the question is, why did we have to blow off an entire new inning of a current ballgame on old news when when we know that a) FOX news will be spending most of their time on Reagan during their regular broadcast later, after the game, and b) anyone who wants to follow the Reagan news right this minute can (and will) switch over to the news stations for more coverage of this story?
This is NOT the way to boost your sports ratings, that's for sure. (Wonder how many folks in Seattle just gave up on FOX, turned off the tv, and went to listen to Niehaus & Rizzs on the radio instead?)
