Monday Mission (Yeah, I Know It's Tuesday)

Well, after numerous fits and starts, here's my first official blog posting. And what better way to start than with Monday Mission, even if it's Tuesday:

1. So, what do you want for Christmas this year that you probably won't
get?

An iMac with a 17-inch flat screen (AirPort and iPod included)

2. What do you know you will be receiving for Christmas this year?

I have absolutely no idea.

3. If you had the means to do so, what presents would you get some of your
fellow bloggers? Be specific, it's more fun that way!

A two-week span where nobody would flame them on their blogs.

4. Do you support any organizations that provide for the less fortunate
during the holidays? Or do any volunteer work?

Unfortunately, I haven’t this year although in the past I have contributed to various Christian charities. I am representing a schoolteacher on a pro bono basis who was wrongfully terminated for taking maternity leave.

5. Each year about this time, I notice Church attendance seems to
spike, then drops off sharply after Christmas. It tickles me that these folks
think they are pulling a fast one on the Big Guy. What is the most recent
thing guilt has motivated you to do?

Almost everything I do is motivated by guilt, so the list would be endless.

6. According to the commercials, the only way to truly tell someone
you love them on Christmas day is to let them "Unwrap a Jaguar" automobile.
Are there any examples of excessive commercialism and/or blatant disregard for
the "Christmas Spirit" that really get under your skin?

That commercial pisses me off to no end. I’d say that it pretty much sums up what my generation has turned out to be about. Although it doesn’t really have much to do with the holidays per se, all of these cell phone commercials are really starting to piss me off, especially the ones with Catherine Zeta-Jones. If we plug into one more electronic device we’ll all be official members of the Borg Collective.

7. I remember a song where the singers wished they could teach the
world to sing, in perfect harmony. What would you like to teach the world?

To sing “What’s So Funny ‘Bout Peace Love and Understanding”.

BONUS: Do they know it's Christmas time at all?

This year, I’m not sure I know it is.

Today's comment question: What is your favorite holiday beverage?

Whatever you’re buying.
