Just installed it, and it seems to do pretty much what I expected, i.e. everything it does on my Mac. I don't have an iPod to try synching, but it does let me share music from my Mac. One little glitch I noticed is that it doesn't show album covers in the "Selected Song" pane. However, it does display them when I turn on visuals. Weird.

Apple released iTunes for Windows (Download) today, opening up the iTunes Music Store experience to a much larger audience. At the same time, they have significantly improved that experience for all. I love the new album notes and the artist playlists, but I suppose my favorite new feature is the ability to easily access iTMS URLs to place in e-mails, blog entries, etc. Now that iTunes is available on Windows, those URLs are going to be much more generally useful. (And since iTunes is free, there is no reason for anyone to not have it installed to handle itms: URLs.) I think gift certificates and allowance will be big features, too, but not really for me.

It is really amazing how much Apple gets this. In contrast with the RIAA who whines about customers wanting what they know technology can give them-- cheap, nearly instant access to individual songs--Apple goes out and gives customers what they want and innovates by providing products and services that they didn't even know they could have. I wish I could just import artist playlists and fill them from my own collection, where possible. Maybe I can. I haven't tried, yet.
