Well, I mentioned that I got a Treo 600 in my post a while back on pTunes streaming. I still need to blog on the device itself, but right now I want to mention the thing that really makes my Treo worth it: GoodLink.
GoodLink software from Good Technology, Inc. allows your Treo to wirelessly synchronize with your Exchange server. Your e-mail, your contacts, your calendar, your tasks, your notes—all of it shows up on your Treo. Make a change on your desktop and it shows up on your Treo and vice versa. You may never synch. over a cable again.
The Treo is a great device in and of itself (and eventually I'll get around to blogging about it), but the Good software really takes it to another level. Good reportedly just received another $45M in venture funding. They have raised a lot of money, but I think they have a lot of potential. |
That was what Jeff asked in an e-mail a few days ago. I did try Vonage as I mentioned a while back, but it just didn't work out. It wasn't Vonage's fault. It was mine.
Well, really I blame Comcast. My cable modem Internet connection is just not reliable enough for me to make my phone service depend on it. It works most of the time, and when it works it is great. However, it does flake out from time to time, and then it isn't easy to straighten out. The cable modem seems to be the weak link in the system. I've had three modems total and two in just the last two years.
Do others find Comcast more reliable than I do? Is DSL more reliable than cable? As Internet connectivity become more critical to everyday life, I think there may be a need for a highly-reliable provider—perhaps cable or DSL with a wireless backup, active monitoring, etc.
I'd really rather have VOIP. If I could get rock solid Internet service, I'd switch in a heartbeat. |
