Philip Gladstone's work reminds me of Andrew Wyeth. The somehow familiar open spaces invite you to explore them on your own. The characters portrayed within, completely known like friends and as unknown as strangers by the viewer simultaneously. They seem quietly aware of your presence as if you were a character in the painting's background watching, but not interfering. Philip not only has beautiful, rich paintings that always leave me wanting more - He speaks with a wonderful candor and depth about his work that I only wish I could express a 10th of about my own. Christopher Stott
Seeing Christopher Stott's paintings are like running into a old friend! They have a familiar quality and are as tasty as comfort food. Christopher's still life's are both timeless and nostalgic. I love his heavenly white backdrops. They make me feel like my most cherished possessions, regular though they maybe, have died and gone to heaven. They do look happy there, don't they?
