Next Issue of ZopeMag Is Looking Good

The April 1st issue of ZopeMag (Issue 4) is being finalized. I wrote the first of a two part article on Rotterdam, the site developer UI for Zope 3. I talked with Mark Pratt on the phone today about part two and the other articles slated for that issue and beyond.

Issue 4 includes another article on Zope 3 by Steve Alexander, an interview with Lalo Martins, an example application for Zope and Postgresql, product reviews of some very interesting Zope applications, and more.

It looks like ZopeMag has completed its return to publishing. This is very good news for the Zope community. It is good to see authors getting compensated for writing, to see professional editing, and to see useful, quality content being made available on a regular basis.

For those that think it should be at no cost, there are other choices, including some of the free articles at ZopeMag. For this choice, though, I expect many people will judge that their time is valuable enough to justify supporting this ZopeMag endeavor.

Plone Sprint In Padova

I was stupid enough to miss the first Plone sprint in Berne. Not gonna make that mistake again! Francesco contacted me about going to Padova and doing some marketing with Reflab. He knows how exactly the right button to push to get my agreement. :^)

Jim Glenn Interview

When I decided to start a "People of Zope" series of interviews, I wanted to make the first selection symbolic and special. It was an easy choice.

Jim Glenn was my boss in the Navy from 1991-1993, back when I first got started with internetworking. I was a young junior officer with more ideas than common sense. Jim, who was the Navy's "Internet Manager" before anybody knew what that meant, was the perfect mentor and the best boss I ever had.

He also had an important role in advising and supporting Connecting Minds, which became Digital Creations, which became Zope Corporation.
