Spare Us The "Visionaries", InterwovenHats of to the boneheads at Interwoven for their two-fer in the Cluetrain Derailed department. Not only do they have the audacity/menace to get a patent for common CVS techniques and a core feature in Subversion, they then have the audacity to call themselves "visionaries". The RDF you see here is "reality distortion field".Not only is this spin, it is evil spin presumably used to stifle fair competition. Really, is this good for customers? Instead of competing on the strengths of the product, the company is now competing on the strength of the legal team. Innovation indeed. Welcome to the endgame, shareholders and employees. Truly, any good use for patents is now outweighed by infinite abuse. Until the patent system can stop being an illegitimate tool of the big-and-slow against innovation, this system should be paused or cancelled.
Thanks go to Stefane for pointing this out. Help spread the word and make sure
that the U.S. keeps its silly patent system without spreading the virus elsewhere. |
