Zope X3 Milestone 3

Congrats to the hard-working folks building Zope 3! Jim announced on Monday that milestone three of the "experimental" series was released. This means that a beta is pretty darn close.

While the announcement covers many of the new features, there are a couple that are most interesting to me. First and foremost: WebDAV. Sidnei da Silva worked very hard on creating interesting (though preliminary) support for WebDAV. It's likely that Zope 3 will be a far better DAV platform than Zope 2. (In fact, Zope 3 already mounts under OS X. It breaks when you try to edit something.)

Other highlights from my perspective: filesystem sync (aka CVS-style dev for Zope), path expressions in TALES (alas, not XPath), and decorators.

Oh, and Jim provided a binary for Windows. Wasn't that sweet? :^)

Zope/Plone In "PROGRAMMEZ !" Magazine

Jean-Rene Vidaud from Ingeniweb writes: "We are very proud to inform all of you that the French Magazine "PROGRAMMEZ !" which is dedicated to developpers and programmers has published 3 pages upon Zope/Plone. There is also a complete installation package for Zope & Plone on the CD enclosed with the magazine. The article was written by Kamon Ayeva (Ingeniweb's team) and the ZopePlone Distrib on the CD was made by Olivier Deckmyn with the help of PJ Grizel and Maik Roeder."

"The magazine will stay in bookstores until the end of August and therefore, there is no way to miss Zope in France this Summer !"

More articles, more buzz....
