Congrats to Aegir

Congratulations to Henri Bergius, my OSCOM Brother, for the 1.0 release of Aegir. This is an open source CMS based on Midgard and PHP. I'm an early Aegir user, as it powers the oscom.org site.

Zope 2.7.0b2 Released

Chris McDonough announced another beta for Zope 2.7. The biggest feature is the greatly-improved installation and operations system. configure, make. A central configuration file. Official support for multiple sites (INSTANCE_HOME). Yummy.

But wait, there's more! Official support for Python 2.2 (2.2.3, to be exact). Restructured text support and ZEO as part of the download. And at last, mounting multiple object databases is officially supported.

I confess, I'm quite addicted now to the configuration setup in Zope 2.7. Chris (and Fred Drake) have really done well. The approach really reflects Chris's no-nonsense approach and thus feels completely natural. I've gone through the process perhaps ten times in the last two weeks and I'm surprised at how little I have to think. Which, for me, is quite important. :^)
