WebDAV NewsSome news items for Nov 5 at webdav.org. First, looks like the ACL standard has been approved by the IETF as a proposed recommendation. Second, Lisa Dussault's WebDAV book is now on the shelves. There's also news about Suse's groupware system and Mozilla's calendar client.I find the ACL spec kind of interesting. I can't argue whether it is a good approach or a bad approach, as I'm not sufficiently tutored in such things. However, it is well-written and can be independently validated against other tools (though it's early on implementations). Finally, there is a wealth of knowledge inside the mailing lists from people focused on this problem.
In my opinion, these kinds of things matter quite a bit. Standards can sometimes raise the barrier for implementors, but they sometimes lower
the barrier for adopters. |
