Talk schedule up for EuroPython

Godefroid and I stayed up till midnight last night assigning talks to slots for the web frameworks track at EuroPython. Michael Hudson then entered the results into the talk management system. You can see the results for the web frameworks track.

Some notes:

  • The idea of having cross-pollination between Python web frameworks seems to have worked really well.
  • We have Kevin Dangoor giving a keynote. He sent me the outline and it's likely to be a winner. He covers the progress Python has recently made on generic web machinery.
  • Some of the big hitters are well represented: Django, TurboGears, Zope, Pylons, CherryPy, etc.
  • Best of all, we scheduled a bake-off/shootout between four of the web frameworks. Each get 20 min to build a sample application.
  • Jim is leading a panel on the Zope Foundation. (Godefroid and I put it at the end of the day so that, if people want to stay and spend more time, the time limit won't be a factor.)

All in all, it's an exciting change for the slot formerly known as the Zope Track.

Movin' Back

This summer will be the fourth year that we've lived in France. When we moved, we had a basic idea that we'd stay around five or six years. Due to family reasons on my side, though, we're moving the schedule up. At the end of this summer, we are moving to the U.S.

When the subject first came up back in December, I mentioned it at the Zea Partners meeting. Thus the 2006 plan we wrote for Zea took this into account. I'll still be doing many of the things I currently do and perhaps some new things also.

It's a hectic but exciting time: getting good work done, kids finishing their school year in a month, birthdays for the kids, and planning a move.
