Developers Back IBM in Unix Suit. Open-source developers rally behind IBM after learning that SCO Group, formerly Caldera Systems, is suing IBM for disclosure of SCO's intellectual property in the form of Unix code. By Michelle Delio. [Wired News]

Ok, here's something I didn't know -- IBM licenses AIX from SCO.  No wonder SCO has stayed in business for all these years.  Second thing I didn't know -- SCO thinks IBM violated confidentiality agreements by putting pieces of AIX into its Linux distribution.

You have to wonder if SCO is a little upset that IBM is putting such focus on Linux and porting it to all their hardware.  Could that be the end of some of those AIX licensing agreements?

Army's Apple Shines in the Desert. Macs aren't normally associated with the military. In fact, in the buildup for the conflict in Iraq, only one Mac exists in the entire theater of operations, according to an Army major. It does have its uses, though. By Leander Kahney. [Wired News]

It's stories like these that make me wonder if I should be in awe of the technology or the marketing savvy that it took to draw attention to it without making it look like an advertisement...
