Telegraph: "Beneath the veneer of an apparently democratic local election campaign the battle to control areas of Birmingham involved allegations of death threats, intimidation and bribery."
TimesOnLine: "The postal voting system makes Britain look like a banana republic, says a judge. Yet Labour favours it and has ignored warnings of fraud."
Of course, the above comments are from the conservative side. But the discontent among Labour voters is growing as well.
George Galloway, who was unjustly vilified by Blair, has his own party now: Respect.
"Rose Gentle, the mother of Gordon Gentle, a British soldier killed in Iraq in June last year, announced this week that she is standing against Adam Ingram, the armed forces minister, in the general election."
Reg Keys is standing for Sedgefield, Blair's constituency. "If all the candidates stood down to allow Mr Keys to challenge Bliar it would be one of the greatest things which happened in this country. Imagine if Blair lost his seat! No doubt someone else would resign their own seat to let him in but by then I think the whole lot would be in disarray and a new leader installed!"
More dissidents have entered the campaign: David Shayler, an MI5 agent, and Craig Murray, Ambassador.
"As a straight-talking British Ambassador, Craig Murray unmasked the tyrannical 'Karimov' regime, in Uzbekistan. While others kept quiet, our man in Tashkent hit the headlines, working tirelessly to expose the mass-murder at the heart of this Central Asian dictatorship."
Then there is also Labour Against the War and the Green Party.
