Communion: "Is the war that has been announced against Iraq a just war? For the guardian of Catholic orthodoxy, the obvious conclusion is that the military intervention that is taking shape 'has no moral justification' (September 20, 2001, interview on the Italian national news program)."
Many European Catholics have misgivings about Benedict XVI. But I think the man must get a chance to prove himself. His stance about the Iraq war is clear and positive. Forget about his youth; as a child one does not have the responsibility and judgment of an adult. Benedict XVI is an intelligent man and will understand he now represents and must take care of the whole Church and not only a part of it.
Let's hope he has the courage to tackle the HIV problem in a more human way. The Church moves slowly, e puor si muove...
