After two months Apple seems to have tackled the several bugs in iWeb. Not all appear to be solved, though. Two updates were needed to fix the main bugs, and the MobileMe servers had to fix something as well. My calls to the Dutch Apple technical service did not result in a solution, so after three calls I was transferred to customer service for some kind of compensation.
After all I had trouble with iWeb for more than two months. Images were misplaced, rss feeds were messed up, then suddenly all pages and sites turned red which means they had to be republished, something which takes hours. Well, it now looks like the bugs were fixed. But I still want my compensation for the lost time and trouble.

So today a customer service person called me and told me he did not know anything about a bug, that was something to be decided on by the technical service who didn't know anything about a bug! The sheer perfidity of such a reply. Two updates were released to fix 'minor issues', which were not minor at all, because they made blogging practically impossible, so this is a recognition that there WERE bugs in iWeb. Of course, this weird reaction by the Apple people is just a way to deny any responsibility, to prevent having to compensate anything.

What is the result of all this hassle? I am never ever going to buy an update of iLife or OS X. If I buy a new iMac, it will have to do for several years. The chance of trouble when installing new releases is too great. Thousands of customers always have trouble with new releases. The discussions in the Apple forums were redhot, nevertheless the Apple people kept maintaining that there were no bugs. It usually takes months before Apple even realizes or acknowledges there are bugs. They call them 'minor issues' of course. Apple products are not bugged.
I must say I am appalled at the Apple customer service. There is nothing better in Apple policies as compared to Microsoft. They are the same dodgers of responsibility. Apple apps don't have bugs, if you are to believe customer service. But I would advise you not to buy any new Apple releases, stick to what you have or use third-party apps like Sandvox.
