ACLU: "On April 16, 2009, the Department of Justice released four secret memos used by the Bush administration to justify torture."

Demand accountability for torture!

AfterDowningStreet: "On April 16, President Obama said he would not prosecute CIA agents who engaged in torture, because President Bush's lawyers told them it was 'legal'. President Obama also said Attorney General Eric Holder would use taxpayer dollars to defend torturers against lawsuits by torture victims, and to pay all judgments if they lost.
These decisions are intolerable and unacceptable. Torture is utterly immoral and un-American. The U.S. ratified the United Nations Convention Against Torture, which prohibits torture and requires prosecution of torturers. In 1947, the U.S. prosecuted a Japanese officer for waterboarding. No lawyer can 'legalize' what is illegal."

Alternet: "In a stunning defense of President George W. Bush's warrantless wiretapping program, President Barack Obama has broadened the government's legal argument for immunizing his Administration and government agencies from lawsuits surrounding the National Security Agency's eavesdropping efforts.
In fact, a close read of a government filing last Friday reveals that the Obama Administration has gone beyond any previous legal claims put forth by former President Bush."

Of course, the US won't be present at the Durban Review Conference, the UN conference against racism.
UN: "The Durban Review Conference (20-24 April 2009) started today in Geneva, Switzerland. It will evaluate progress towards the goals set by the World Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance in Durban, South Africa, in 2001."
Watch the proceedings here.

It's back to business as usual in the US. Obama has made his first and huge mistake, his first big cheat is a fact. Change? Forget it. Obama is still Murka's boy.
It looks like president Obama lost his chance of becoming America's best and finest president. He really could have made history.
