USNews: "Amazon said it will modify its new Kindle 2 E-book device to let authors and publishers decide if it can read a particular work aloud. Kindle's text-to-speech feature had come under fire from authors who said it trampled on their rights to sell audio versions of their books."
It's the most stupid decision of Amazon and those publishers who decide to disable the speech function. It's anti-social. They will be missing the purchases of the blind people, who wouldn't buy a Kindle for the text but for the audio. The mere possibility that people might use the speech feature and no longer buy audiobooks is enough for those money wolves to block the audio. That's enough for me to boycott Kindle.
