SFGate: "President Bush announced Tuesday that he has chosen an executive for a defense contractor to become the Navy's top civilian official and a Pentagon weapons buyer to be secretary of the Air Force."
The militarization of America continues unabated. New weapons are devised for use in Iraq and at home.
AlterNet: "The Active Denial System is a Pentagon-funded, $51 million crowd control device that rides atop a Humvee, looks like a TV dish, and shoots energy waves 1/64 of an inch deep into human skin. It dispenses brief but intolerable bursts of pain, sending bad guys fleeing but supposedly leaving no lasting damage."
It is also called V-MADS.
But new weapons won't bring victory. The war is over, only Bush doesn't want to recognize the fact.
AlAhram: "It's over. For the United States to win the Iraq war requires three things: defeating the Iraqi resistance; establishing a stable government in Iraq that is friendly to the US; maintaining the support of the American people while the first two are being none. None of these three seem any longer possible. First, the US military itself no longer believes it can defeat the resistance. Secondly, the likelihood that the Iraqi politicians can agree on a constitution is almost nil, and therefore the likelihood of a minimally stable central government is almost nil. Thirdly, the US public is turning against the war because it sees no 'light at the end of the tunnel'."
The madman in the White House thinks God is speaking to him through the burning bush, or anything that he, Bush, sets on fire.
