If patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel, religion could be the first and last refuge of the scoundrel.
Tony Blair's statement about God also being the judge of his war only means he has lost the confidence of the people (except for the pitiful members of Labour) and is now taking refuge in God. It just shows his disgust for the people, democracy and religious leadership.
And you can always investigate people for 'sedition' if they are critical.
With all those crooks and liars around in government administrations, leaders have a hard time, but not really - they are the godfathers. No wonder they prefer the 'judgement of God' - which is nothing more than spin - to that of people. They don't accept the judgement of any earthling, so they refer to God as their inspiration.
ABCNews: "The CIA Inspector General has opened an investigation into the spy agency's executive director, Kyle 'Dusty' Foggo, and his connections to two defense contractors accused of bribing a member of Congress and Pentagon officials."
