Independent: "The controversy over the US-run detention centre at Guantanamo Bay is to erupt anew with confirmation by the Pentagon that a new, permanent prison will open in the Cuban enclave in the next few weeks.
Camp 6, a state-of-the-art maximum-security jail built by a Halliburton subsidiary, will be able to hold 200 prisoners.
Of all the prisoners ever held at Guatanamo since it was established in January 2002, only 10 have been formally charged."
BBC: "The US should immediately shut all secret detention facilities used in its campaign against terror groups, the UN Human Rights Committee has said.
The committee's call comes two months after a separate UN body, the UN Committee against Torture, urged Washington to close its detention camp at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba."

Independent: "Tony Blair delivered a calculated snub to Gordon Brown last night, declaring 'the era of tribal political leadership is over'.
In a speech to media mogul Rupert Murdoch's senior executives in California, Mr Blair appeared to abandon his party, which, he said, could be as resistant to change as the Tories."
