"There are currently seven species of cetaceans in U.S. waters that are protected under the Endangered Species Act. They are the blue whale, the bowhead whale, the fin whale, the humpback whale, the northern light whale, the sei whale and the sperm whale. All seven species are listed as endangered."
Xinhua: "The International Whaling Commission (IWC) on Wednesday defeated a Japanese proposal to expand its scientific whaling program by nearly doubling its annual catch of mink whales, which critics say is a commercial hunt in the guise of science."
Japanese officials have said that Tokyo will increase its 'scientific whaling' from this autumn. Japan and Norway should be stopped from killing these endangered whales.
