Free Culture

Wired has an excerpt from lawerence lessig's new book Free Culture. "OK, P2P is 'piracy.' But so was the birth of Hollywood, radio, cable TV, and (yes) the music industry". Interesting and very timely. look forward to sniffing the contents of the book.

update: peter wayner has posted his review of the book at /. and the book is now available online in pdf

Claim your free .tk domain

DotTK is a very interesting venture whose success depends upon word-of-mouth marketing. You can register up to 3 different .tk domains for free (given you don't trick the system ie. using more than one name, etc.), and moving up the scale to a full account costs 9USD which is reasonable. check it out: lots of services for free and so many beautiful domains are unregistered yet. I've already registered two domains and the new URL of this blog is now www.powertofantasy.tk

however, the domain ( if registered for free), expires after 90 days if  it gets less than 25 unique visitors in the space of these 90 days, but i suppose this is reasonable to discourage people from registering tons of domain names they'll never get to use.

the motto of the project is "dividing domains differently" and it aspires to contribute to the cyber-infrastructure of Tokelau (that's why the .tk) as part of the Tokelau Internet Project. Smashing!

I joined the Tokelau Internet Project as a deputy ambassador. If you'd like to claim your own own free .tk domain and are asked to provide an ambassador coupon number, use mine: 111453
