A Simple Request
No time for hobbies today. My daughter is getting married in April. Slowly my life is being taken over by wedding plans. Oh, well.
On the way back from Richfield yesterday I noticed several cars that were causing problems. These drivers were either slow, or weaving, or distracted in some way. And every one of them had something else in common. Every one of them.
Each driver was holding a cell phone to his or her face and yacking away. Every one of these problems drivers. It is a big problem out on our roads. We need to make some changes.
Driving is a full-time business. It requires 100% concentration. Last month the local paper ran an article about all of the 2002 highway fatalities. Many of these were caused by distracted drivers. Certainly not all distracted drivers are using cell phones. But many of them are.
So do yourself, and anyone else that you know and care about, a favor. Go out and get yourself a headset. Get your wife or husband a headset. Get your significant other a headset. Tell your parents, your children and everyone else you know to get a headset.
I certainly don't expect all of us to stop using cell phones while we drive. I do think that we should make sure that we have both hands on the wheel and full range of motion to look around us while we drive our automobiles.
I've been using a headset for years and wouldn't be without it. Recently I purchased my second Plantronics M135. It works well. It has great noise canceling capabilites, a mute buttion and volume adjustments for both transmit and receive. It also has a loop for over the ear and is quite comfortable.
This talking on cell phones while driving thing is serious business. Make sure that you are not a danger to yourself and to the others who share the roads with you. It's worth doing something today.
That's all for now.........
