Colin Maxwell throws out the welcome mat to his new blog with a step-by-step tour of JDeveloper 10g release 10.1.3's  new web services support for aspects related to WS-Security, WS-Reliability and WS-Management.

The screen shots are from the not-yet-released JDeveloper 10g early access developer preview that we're scurrying to finish up so you can give us some early feedback on a solid milestone of this major new release planned for 2005.

You can see some look-and-feel changes in the screenshots that we've worked hard to implement. The improvements in 10.1.3 go far beyond the look and feel, but it's something you see everyday while working with the tool, so in and of itself that's important, too.

As the date nears for the JDeveloper 10g 10.1.3 early access preview to be released, I'm sure we'll be able to start telling you more about what you can expect in this new major release, due out in 2005.

I rediscovered today a JDeveloper 10g cool feature that you might not have tried. In most dialogs in the product where you're asked to entere a directory or file name, you can get directory-insight right there in the text field as you're typing.

Normally, it will trigger when you press the directory separator character (forward or backward slash), but by pressing [Ctrl]-[Space] you can get the filename insight to pop-up on demand to help you complete a filename you're trying to type into that field.
