My fourth column in the DEVELOPER: Frameworks series covers Browsing and Editing Data with Oracle ADF. It's now live as part of the July/August edition of Oracle Magazine.

I'll be at the JavaOne conference next week  If anyone wants to stop by and get a quick demo of all the cool, new features we've added in JDeveloper 10.1.3 (both in the JDeveloper as well as ADF areas) just stop by the demo pods at the Oracle booth.  At the booth (#625) you can win a Sony PlayStation 2, Star Wars PC game packs, and Atari joysticks. The first 500 people to submit an entry survey with a stamp from an Oracle demo pod will receive a ticket to see Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith the evening of Tuesday, June 28.

Also, don't miss Thomas Kurian's keynote demo on Tuesday, June 28th. I saw a run-through of the JDeveloper part of his keynote demo yesterday, and the sneak preview of the JSF-based rich client components we're working on (as part of our ADF Faces Components) made my jaw drop when I saw it. The combo of JDeveloper, JSF, and these rich JSF components takes the JSF and AJAX combinations to a new level of ease of use and, dare I say, almost cinematic richness in the browser (without any kind of Flash or ActiveX plugin).

Hope to see you there...

I've added another screencast about...

Creating and Using Custom, Declarative Validation Rules in ADF Business Components

This illustrates one of the most powerful features of ADF Entity Objects that enables a development team to capture repeating business object validation patterns into reusable validation rule "beans" -- optionally with a custom design time editor panel -- and package them up into a library of custom validation rules. All of the rest of the developers on the team can then simply import that library of validation rules, and declaratively "attach" them to their entity objects to take advantage of the common validation patterns, just by setting a few declarative properties that drive the reusable validation rule implementation.

The project shown in the screencast can be downloaded as example #28 from my example page.

I've added a new screencast that illustrates the basics of...

Setting Up and Using CVS with ADF Business Components in JDeveloper.

7:39:00 AM

I've started to keep a list of screencasts that I do about JDeveloper and ADF.

Enjoy.
