After a 1hr cram session with a linux-aware friend, I have a lot of architecture filled in for my project. Then we looked at it, and I thought, couldn't I just post this stuff somewhere and get back to life as a programmer rather than a sysadmin? That way my guest room can stay that way and not turn into the "file server room," AND I don't need to pay big bucks for fixed IP from my cable co. My ideal hosting site would have the following: * Ability to run "code behind" * Unix, Apache, Perl, C, SMTP, Tolerance of persistent apps (or TSRs, aka programs that run all the time) * Gorgeous stats * Qmail * And now for the oxymoron: Not trying to do everything, so I can get help easier by not being distracted by all the amazing other technologies I can use. I want a traditional web host. comment []7:54:49 PM ![]() |
