(george)...I promised to go off regarding that album. Had to take myself back there! It was our followup to Reel Life, Summer 1991. We called Arif Mardin again; as we had success working together, it seemed like the place to start. He was willing, and we recorded If Things Were Different, New Dream and Free; Joe Mardin came in to assist and co-produce. The sounds were real brash and lively, it was very good. The song New Dream sounded like a single. For the next bunch of songs, it was suggested that we work with Phil Ramone. The idea was to work out most of the tracking at our home studio in Venice, CA, then mix on a big board somewhere in Los Angeles. Phil had innovative ways to get us singing our best; we invited Bootsy Collins in to arrange and record two songs, I Love This World and Mission. Those were fun times in the studio! With Arif and Phil, we had an array of great players and performances from C.J. Vanston, Bootsy and Trey(?) on guitar, Jeff Skunk Baxter, Joe Mardin, as well as our own band from our other albums: Michael Jochum, Leon Gaer, John Morton, John Goux, and Jim Bredouw. We had the cover art, and we were shooting a video for New Dream the next day when we got the call that the President of RCA had been let go...OK! And the guy coming in was not interested in releasing any pending projects...OK! Within a few weeks, we had been sacked as well(or we left the label, it all happened quickly), and there we sat on the curb with a really good and expensive record, and it was becoming clear that it was not going to be heard!

Until...we found out years later that a small amount of CDs were pre-released in Italy and Germany. To this day, we have never seen a copy of that album except on eBay; there was a furious bid that ended at $720...OK!
