The demise of the UN and the growth of the EU Michael Glennon, Professor of International Law at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University has an excellent essay in the current edition of Foreign Affairs. So too is an essay by David Marquand, former principal of Mansfield College in Oxford, in the New Statesman this week. Both of these people talk about issues that are very important to me, and as such I am going to write an extensive review of these works. 1:21:31 PM    Click here to add to the [] comments Court threat for State over data privacy Karlin does a good job of keeping me informed of events back home. Today she has a lead story in the Irish Times, an interesting story in which the Data Protection Commissioner of Ireland accused a government directive of being "in breach of Article 15.2.1 of the Constitution", lacked "the character of law", and was "in breach of the principles of \ Community law". Just what you would expect of a corrupt Irish government. 12:59:31 PM    Click here to add to the [] comments Blueprint for Europe published Valery Giscard d'Estaing has finally published the first draft of the new EU Constitution. Apparently he is calling for a referendum on its implementation across the EU. If such a referendum is anything like the second Nice Treaty poll in Ireland, then prepare for a deluge of EU propaganda. You can read the draft here.
