Streamripper is a nice open source (and free) alternative to some of the commercial stream rippers out there. It only does mp3 streams, but I think that should be enough for most purposes. There's also a neat automatic track separation option. It still lacks some features (like timed recording) but at least you won't have to feel guilty about going to Astalavista to get a key.
