Bill Howard. Yes, YES, YES!!!!! A big step toward the obvious goal of having all programmable devices be programmed via one's PC. Not just home entertainment stuff, but other things, like sprinkler systems and programmable thermostats. Also, "Because the Smart Display is linked to a desktop PC that's probably always connected to the Web via broadband, it can act as an electronic program guide" seems to me like it might provide an end-run around the onerous monthly subscription fees for TiVo.

For years I have put my quick-launch taskbar on the right hand side of my screen. I consider this, cited in a Dvorak article on Longhorn, as validation.
