I know Google is booming, but I still have to wonder...I am a heavy internet user, and a super-heavy searcher. And I know self-reported behavior is notoriously suspect, but--I think I have only ever clicked on a Google ad 4 times, and only one of those times did I buy anything. So I made 1 $20 purchase because of Google, ever. Ignoring who gets what money, let's say the gross margin on my purchase was $5. That means a total of $5 of economic value was available delivered to Google and its partners over the course of my 6 years of using Google.

It's hard to see how that would pay the freight.
