I've been back from Paris for over 24 hours and am just recovered enough to blog. Unfortunately when syncing my Radio Userland folder I synced in the wrong direction and erased my original Tuesday entry. For completeness sake I've reproduced it below.

An image called Paris was a mixture of good and bad. Apple took the journos and VIPs to the Musee d'Orsay for a reception. The room with the food wasn't really big enough but we could wander through the museum. I only got to see a portion of it but what I did see was superb including original Monets and Van Goghs. Just to stand centimetres away from some of the most beautiful paintings in the world was... I don't know how to describe it.

Neil McIntosh from the Guardian and Onlineblog and I left early and made our way to the Champs Elysees where we dined out in the open air. Unfortunately somewhere between the Musee d'Orsay and the Champs Elysees I lost my almost brand new Palm Tungsten T. The data is all backed up and the device itself was insured but I just feel so stupid.

I also ran into some old friends from my days in Brussels including Paul Ruys who sold me my first Macintosh (2nd hand of course). Unfortunately he had sad news, two of my former colleagues had passed away. One of them was younger than me.

I also ran into Andre Brugmanns, whom I originally met at the Mac Club in Brussels. The Club is still going strong he tells me and is hoping to meet shortly at a new venue in Tervuren just outside Brussels.

Due to a stupid mistake on my part, the entry below which I originally posted on Tuesday afternoon has had to be republished on Friday.

I'm presently sitting in the press room at Apple Expo waiting for a photo that I can send to my editor so I thought I'd blog my thoughts on Steve Jobs' keynote this morning.

Ultimately, I was disappointed. Most of the keynote was taken up with a demo of Panther aka OS X 10.3 which is due out later this year. Despite the fact that Panther was first demoed in June, they still don't have a firm release date and will only commit to shipping it before the end of the year.

There is a new 15" Powerbook but it's really a revamp of the existing model to bring it into line with the rest of the range.

The only really new items were the Wireless Keyboard and Mouse. These use Bluetooth instead of USB and will ship in about two weeks for o79 each including VAT.
