Sprint, palmOne Unite for m-Health
This is story dating back to Feb. 23, but I just read about it in the April issue of Health Data Management, and then found this link on the Mobile Health Data Web site.
According to the agreement, the companies will combine: the secure and high-speed data capabilities of the Sprint Nationwide PCS Network; the PCS Vision Smart Device Treo 600, a smartphone from palmOne; and a portfolio of third-party applications.
These include mobile enterprise applications described as, solutions to mobilize various health care processes. Of course, this assumes that hospitals universally rescind their ban on celllphones and that specialized antenna systems will be installed to ensure a cell signal in all patient care areas.
More can be found at palmOne's healthcare Web site.
Sprint is also annoucing that it will be holding Treo demo days directed at small businesses. There offering a $200 rebate for a two-year contract, but this is nothing new. The stores are listed on the palmOne site, but it looks like most of the demos happened yesterday.
