OK then, fresh off a demo of Breeze I follow on from Alan's barking about it and, well, it 'aint bad at all!
Basically I reckon tools like this have got three important roles to play... Breeze looks like it can absolutely kick ass in terms of:
- SIMPLY Translating PowerPoints into online presentations and adding audio to them (am not sure about the quality of the audio as Alan pointed out but hey...)
- Providing synchronous classrooms... especially with the presentation, sharing, chat, webcam and alike
- Facilitating multi-campus meetings in such such such a better way than voicepoint telephone services, which can give you back the 15% of your time you spend driving!!!
My only grumble is that there seemed to be quite a bit of a delay on the synchronous webcam and audio chat... shouldn't be a problem on a LAN :o( Otherwise, I like it... Ilikeitalot!

Virtual Organizations Thought I'd share with you some 'virtual organizations' (fictional ones created for educational purposes) that my most marvelous colleagues have come up with so far:
'Southern Brakes and Plastic' is a good lookin' set-up by some of our own, and there's even a good paper about it.
The 'Australian Network of Practice Firms' looks like a very professional set-up and has spawned some good press too!
Here's another one from the Toolbox people, 'ValleyView' (yes, the ones I was whinging about a while back... whoops)
And this is very flash, a youthworking organization... not strictly a company but the principles are there.
So... this is just in Australia! There's gotta be more stuff out there... haven't got an, ahem, copy of that game you mentioned knocking about have you kind Lindon?

Jenny quotes Will whose pioneering work on getting quality news RSS feeds (I'll use this term to cover regular media and blogging) is, IMO, bleedin' important. Jenny highlights the importance of nicking other peoples feeds (which is something I think Share your OPML is great for... did I mention you should share it :O) but also adds:
"This is why I'd like to see a concerted effort - in the library community at the very least - to provide either an aggregator with pre-populated feeds or opml files of feeds by type of library or interest" [The Shifted Librarian]
To which I say, yay, yay and yay! Certainly something a librarian would think of! Personally a dbase of suitable news feeds for, say, online education, would be of more use to me, personally, than a whole host of academic full-text dbases. Perhaps the seeds for this kind of work are in Edu_RSS?
