I keeps rythym with my feet It's a little after 4 in the morning. I've come downstairs, put on a pot of coffee, pulled a couple of windows open, and sit listening to the surf. The coffee begins to gurgle, making its way to the pot. The bow of a fishboat comes between me and the beacon from Boston Light. I can see the lights of North Shore, but when the beacon comes around again the boat will have passed into the stealth of the night.
Power up, slip in a CD. Chris Smither, Outside In:
Did you ever stop to notice it's when you feel a little low, that the entire spinning universe descends to say hello with heavy-handed cheerfulness and a calculated smile and says, "Carry me awhile." But you don't have to carry much of anything at all. The biggest thoughts of bigger things are really pretty small. The major thoughts that occupy the minor state of mind are what we leave behind. Just a minor thought that we can leave behind.
Tide higher, flood quieter, it's cooler now. Time for coffee.
