To delete, or not to delete 5. When is it a good idea to delete blog posts, perhaps?
That's a deceptively simple question, until you give it a context. Was the deleted post a crummy piece of writing, so embarrassing, that the sight of a Submit button still gives you the heebie-jeebies, and you cuss at Weblogs.com, pissed at how fast Feedster picks up RSS? Too bad! For better or worse, I'd leave it and learn. But, hey, I'm for choice. If you want to delete your post, so be it. Be forewarned though, if you make the decision to delete, you live with the consequences. And, that may mean reposting the piece again.
But what if it's not just a crummy piece of writing that's bugging you? What if your blog post is an artistic composition, a composition of such complexity, that the piece evokes emotion in a listener that is uncomfortably outside what you, as creator, had imagined? What do you do then? It's a question worth asking, and a query especially suited for Berkman.
Hmmm... A blog post with sufficient complexity could provide the unintended consequences needed for discussion.
Got any ideas on how to proceed?
