Knitting and self knowledge
Knitting not only teaches us about life--sometimes a project is hard, sometimes not; sometimes you're in the groove, somtimes not--it also teaches us about ourselves. To wit: Anxious to finish Ethan's sweater, I seamed it with the aran-weight cotton of which it's made, rather than waiting to find a thinnner yarn. The result: Bulky, inelastic seams. Moral of the story: Impatience almost always results in a lesser product. What did I learn about myself? I'm not the most patient poodle in the kennel.
Ripply raglans: Ok, here's the part where I ask for help. I did a reasonable job sewing Ethan's raglan sleeves to the armhole, but they don't have the lovely crispness of Becky's finishing. I mattressed stitched 'em. Any ideas for more rockin raglans?
