Miscellanea
1. No FO today. Got caught up in finishing armholes on the FCEK wrap; a quick pick up/bind off provides a nice stability to the edge. Still noodling over my button loop too...I-cord or crochet chain...leaning toward I-cord. Will spray and pin to block.
2. Attention Denver metroplex yarn junkies: The Recycled Lamb, 2010 Youngfield St., Lakewood is having a mondo summer yarn sale starting Friday, July 25. They are slashing prices on cottons and cotton blends especially. Books are 10 percent off. (Minor affiliation, Mom works there.)
3. Question: Have any of you experienced, hmmmm, how shall I say, a knitting backlash? I'm looking to interview knitters who have had people diss their knitting. My favorite backlashy comment: "Oh, you must have a lot of time on your hands." The interviews are for a story I'm writing for a knitting magazine.
I'm interested in whether knitters feel censored by their "sisters" as well as what major feminists might have to say on the burgeoning craft movement. Is knitting politically correct or not, or does it matter? (Wouldn't it be interesting if Susan Faludi knits?)
Ping me if you have a good story and want to chat.
In memoriam: Carol Shields, the brilliant author of The Stone Diaries, died on July 16 after a long struggle with breast cancer. Her fans will miss her sorely.
