"Conversation. What is it? A Mystery! It's the art of never seeming bored, of touching everything with interest, of pleasing with trifles, of being fascinating with nothing at all. How do we define this lively darting about with words, of hitting them back and forth, this sort of brief smile of ideas which should be conversation?" Guy de Maupassant

Thought of the Day

Ring the bells that still can ring,
Forget your perfect offering,
There is a crack in everything;
That's how the light gets in.

Caferati - Making Actionable Sense of Online Collaboration

A picture named caferati.jpgHere's a great example of making actionable sense out of online collaboration - a group that found each other on Ryze have set up Caferati :

"We're a group  of writers who came together via an online forum on the networking site, Ryze, exchanged thoughts on writing, shared work and got to know each other.

That forum, Bombay Writers' Cafe, has since grown beyond the confines of Ryze, to include a collaborative blog, and, even more excitingly, has evolved from the purely virtual to a vibrant offline group, where a common love for the word has become a foundation for closer friendships.

This site is part of our effort to become a valuable resource for Indian writers who choose to write in English"

Apart from the blog which i am so happy to see out there, there's another gem of an idea - Stories at the Coffee Table - Volume 1described as :

"An idea born at one of our readings, Stories at the Coffee Table, Volume One (SATCT-V1 for short) will have between its covers thirty-five previously unpublished short stories in - we hope - a variety of styles and genres.

Where are we getting all these stories from? We're holding a nation-wide contest. Read on."
