It's party time!!

Tonight the Dutch national football team turned on the style and trounced Scotland 6-0 to book a place in next year's European Cup Finals in Portugal. They had done it the hard way - missing out on automatic qualification, then losing the first leg of the playoff 1-0 in Glasgow. But the Dutch have some fantastic players. They're still number five in the FIFA world rankings. And tonight they showed why. The Amsterdam ArenA was alive with colour, patriotism and emotion. I watch a lot of football, and on nights like this the Dutch equal anything I have seen outside of Brazil for passion. They will add something special to next summer's finals. There was added spice this evening in that the Scotland manager, Berti Vogts, was captain of the German team than beat Holland in the 1974 World Cup Final. Tonight was payback time. And how! It's sad that the Scots won't be going to Portugal, but with due respect to the Scottish players, the right team got through. Now, if they can just sort out their erratic form, and settle the petty bickering within the squad that so often spoils their performances, they have the quality to go all the way and win the European Cup. In the meantime, they've lifted spirits here after a period when there hasn't been much good news around.
