The New York Review of Books as a catalog of horrors--seemingly endless--as its writers try to come to terms with our times. I wonder if I can cope. "The temptation of a retreat to private life" named by Samantha Powers in her essay on Hanna Arendt (April 4, 2004). Yes, you can say that again. The emergence over and over again of societies willing to perpetrate genocide: Cambodia, Rwanda, Kosovo; my little mind reels. Oh yes, I voted. And I'll try to stand for more things. But really...

NetNewsWire crashing a lot--trying to import the BloggerCon blogroll as subscriptiions. Not clear just what the OPML file is supposed to look like. But it crashes even with a small subset.
