National Treasure (2004). With Sean Bean, Harvey Keitel, Nicolas Cage. All those who say, oh, George Clooney, or Jude Law, or other names often bandied about as sexiest man in the world can now stop wasting their votes: the clear winner is Sean Bean (and especially, as here, with longish hair). Watching him and watching Harvey Keitel in this movie are the only reasons I can see for watching it at all. I'm not fond of Disney-type films (anything that can fit its shape to "heartwarming" need not apply here) and this one is Disney all the way, pressing every possible ready-made cliché-button. But Keitel's FBI agent charming a society crowd into willing obedience, and Sean Bean in any frame he graces in this film, are for me worth the rental price and the discomfort of sitting through the rest of the film. Note to film producers: both these men have formidable acting talents. Why not put them to use in more than the few lukewarm moments you gave them in this film?
