Fantastic Four Fantastic Four(2005). Directed by Tim Story. With Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis and a fine cast and crew. Stan Lee has a cameo as the postman. Lots of fun for Marvel Comics Fantastic Four fans, showing the origins of the Four, and the transformation of Victor von Doom into Dr. Doom. Absolutely stunning effects, fine acting, many lengthy and complex action sequences, excellent direction and production. This is a terrific action/adventure film for fans of Fantastic Four and of films that bring comic book heroes and situations to the screen. There's a lot of detail to be put on the screen in two hours, setting up who the main characters are and how they got their superpowers, in a story well-known to its fans. By that yardstick the filmmakers do a good job of picking and choosing and a fine job of getting it on the screen. Don't come to it looking for intellectual stimulation and in-depth relationships; it's a comic book story, after all, and a good one, too. 4:05:03 PM
