Buzzing the Web on a Meme Machine. The World Wide Web is the perfect Petri dish for memes, infectious ideas or any other things that spread by imitation from person to person. By By SARAH BOXER. [NYT > Technology]
Here at last is a definitive definition of that oh so bandied about word: "meme". Give Richard Dawkins credit where credit is due. Surprisingly this whole story came out of a legitimate journalistic resource the NYTimes, not Wired.com. Thankyou NYTimes for doing something useful for those of us who tend to stay to close to our daily haunts like CNN.com or Wired.com. Mimetics is NOT memetics although the meme part is derived and devised from the same root.
