Giga Designs ships dual-processor 1.7GHz G4 upgrade. Giga Designs is now shipping what it claims to be the fastest G4 single- and dual-processor upgrades... [MacNN | The Macintosh News Network]
I think I just found my next hardware purchase for my Mac QuickSilver 2002 2X1Ghz. I'm so damned happy they have a 1.6Ghz unit out. I thought I was going to have to wait for a 1.5Ghz interim step. But these guys can overclock to 1.73Ghz, shows how very nice FreeScale is in being able to continue rolling out the G4 processor at higher rated clocks. The high end model is $800. I think that would be the one I wanted as it can run an even multiple of the motherboard speed. 133MhzX12 = ~1.6Ghz. And in a dual processor machine Final Cut is going to scream along with any games I might buy. That's what I'm really interested in. So if I budget wisely I may be able to play HALO on my 3 year old machine.
