I'm interested in a lot of stuff. Technology in general is fascinating to me. But along the way I would like to look at the integration of Macs and PeeCees. Like LBJ said, "We must all learn to live with one another or,... We must die."

Rambus pushes threading technology for DRAM. Rambus thinks it can improve the performance of three-dimensional graphics by adding threading technology to standard graphics memory chips, the company announced Monday. [InfoWorld: Top News]

Unfortunately Rambus engaged in a ton of lawsuits as the RDRAM market petered out too early. No one bought the overpriced modules much less the motherboards that used them. It was overpriced and somewhat underpowered for the price incurred due to high licensing fees from Rambus. Their reputation business wise is crap because they perused lawsuits as a form of revenue after their sales tanked. Infineon will tell you keep your eye on them, don't let them screw you with a lawsuit over intellectual property, they are very litigious. The idea they are pursuing with graphics RAM is good, the same way that Rambus' original design for highspeed serial RAM was a good idea, but they just are not far enough ahead of the pack, and with DDR RAM, the commodity producers ate into their bottom line.

Digidesign debuts Pro Tools for M-Audio interfaces. Avid today announced that its audio division, Digidesign, has unveiled Pro Tools M-Powered software.... [MacNN | The Macintosh News Network]

This explains a lot about by Digidesign acquired M-Audio finally. $350 is 100 less than the MBox cost of ~450 retail. It's a good move and now Apple's on notice that Garage Band is going to have to go up against the 'reference standard' for audio authoring and mixing. It's good though, and might help further Digidesign's dominance of the market. I'm just glad they're being forced to cater to the low end, especially after the nixed their Audiomedia III PCI cards. I wonder if M-power Pro Tools would work with my M-Audio Revolution 7.1 sound card? Probably not, since it only cost me $84!
